The Terrors have kicked off the season with a record of 1-1.

With a brand new option offense and most of the defense returned the team has shown a lot of promise.

In their first game Glynn had to take on a tough Benedictine squad; with 130 kids on their roster Benedictine isn’t your typical 2A school. Glynn knew it was going to be a tough game, but nobody could’ve seen what would happen next.

On the second play of Benedictine’s first drive they drew first blood. Benedictine scored on a 53-yard bomb to their star Wide Receiver John Wesley Kennedy III. Glynn had a safety in positon to actually make a play on the ball, but he just mistimed his jump.

Glynn’s new offense tried to respond and started moving the ball downfield. On the 32-yard line in Benedictine territory Deejay Dallas had a nice 26-yard run and fought for more yards but at about the 10 yard line was stripped and so began the problems for the offense that night.

Two Drives later John Wesley Kennedy III scored on an 83-yard TD run, and then a few more drives later Benedictine used the same play to score on a 63-yard TD run with Junior Terrick Smalls. Kendall Cross fumbled on the next play.

Finally, after moving the ball well all night and the defense only giving up three big plays Glynn Academy scored its first touchdown of the season with a 2-yard rush by Kendall Cross.

It really seemed like momentum was starting to swing Glynn’s way until the fumbles started again. By the end of the night Glynn had fumbled the ball eight times and lost five of them.

Also two big touchdown plays were called back that night: a 40-yard pass from Randon Jernigan to Dallas and a 50-yard pass from Dallas to Jernigan.

Although Glynn started off the season with a 24-7 loss there was a lot of promise in this team. They just had to put this loss behind them and focus on their next opponent, the Ware County Gators.

Ware County is always a very good opponent, especially at home. This year was no different.

The game started with Ware taking the opening kickoff and marching down the field for a field goal. Ware did something few offenses do versus Glynn and that’s move the ball down field methodically.

Deejay Dallas had an answer, though, as he cut into an impressive 52-yard TD run. Two drives later, after electing to gamble on 4th and 1 the snap went under Deejays legs, causing a huge loss and giving good field positon to the Gators.

The Gators capitalized on a 1-yard Quarterback sneak and lead going into the second 10-7.

After great play by both defenses in the 2nd quarter Glynn finally scored and tied the game with 3:34 to go in the second.

The teams went to half tied at ten apiece. The main difference in the second half was how Glynn gassed Ware’s stout defense.

Not letting Ware do anything while still moving on offense and eventually scoring on a 3-yard TD run by Tyler Grant.

Ware gave Glynn a scare at the end, completing a 40-yard pass on Glynn’s prevent defense but ended up shooting themselves in the foot with an intentional grounding call a few plays later.

Glynn is really starting to find themselves as a team and pretty soon, once this team comes completely together, they will be one of the most complete teams in the state. For now, It’s on to Pomona in Orlando!
