JakeFromStateFromm. That is the Twitter handle of the Georgia QB, Jake Fromm. It is for certain his Twitter followers have sky rocketed over the last month, especially in Dawg Nation.

Fromm, a graduate from Houston County, was one of the most feared QB’s in the state of Georgia when in high school.

In fact, most thought he would not sign with UGA since Jacob Eason was already cemented as the starter for Georgia. However, Fromm did commit and instantaneously gave the Dawgs some much needed depth at the QB position.

Coach Kirby Smart had the luxury of another 5-star QB on the roster, just in case something were to happen to Eason.

Unfortunately, something did happen to Jacob Eason. In the very first game of the season, Eason was scrambling near the sideline and landed awkwardly. The diagnosis, a sprained knee ligament and  he would miss an undisclosed amount of time.

Fromm has taken advantage of the playing time and may have won the starting QB job at Georgia.

Fromm came into the Appalachian State game and went 10-15 for 143 yards and a touchdown through the air. UGA won 38-10 over App State.

Then came the challenge of Fromm’s first ever start. It would not be a cupcake start. Most would hope that Fromm’s first start would come in a noon game at home in Athens against some FCS team; not the case. Fromm’s first start would be on national TV at night against a ranked Notre Dame team in South Bend.

Let’s be honest, did anyone really think Georgia would win that game with a true freshman starting, who didn’t even have a full knowledge of the playbook.

Well, they did win 20-19 and Fromm played just well enough to earn the “W” in his first ever start. His numbers were not overly impressive against Notre Dame; 16-29 for 141 yards with a TD and an interception. But the Dawgs were 2-0.

On to Samford. Georgia won easily 42-14. Fromm looked a little more comfortable in the offense and put up a line of 8-13 for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Then Mississippi State came to town. Georgia demolished the Bulldogs 31-3 and Fromm was a huge reason why. He gashed that vaunted MSU defense like a seasoned veteran to the tune of 9-12 for 201 yards and 2 TD’s.

I guess my point is that Jake Fromm is the real deal. I cannot envision a scenario that will allow Jacob Eason to become the starter again as long as Georgia keeps winning. Eason should be ready to come back in the next couple of weeks and Kirby Smart will have a tough decision to make.

The Dawgs probably won’t face another ranked opponent until the Florida game.
