Lane Kiffin’s Twitter Account

Over the past few years my adoration for Charles Barkley has increased exponentially.

For the most part it has very little to do with his actual NBA career or his analytical ability when it comes to breaking down the NBA. I enjoy watching Barkley because he is pure entertainment. The anti-Skip Bayless, if you will. I could watch him discuss just about anything.

As much as it pains me to admit this, because I really don’t care a lot for this guy as a person or coach, but I am really starting to enjoy Lane Kiffin. More specifically, I love Lane Kiffin’s Twitter account.

I don’t know Kiffin personally, but his demeanor and personality has always rubbed me the wrong way. As a coach, I think he’s overrated and I agree with most people when it comes to whether or not he deserved his prior gigs.

His Twitter page though more than makes up for those shortcomings. Here are just a few things he’s tweeted over the past month or so (the comments in parenthesis are mine):

-If tomato is a fruit does that mean ketchup is a smoothie? (That’s a legit question)

-Is sand called sand because it’s between the sea and the land? (Who hasn’t pondered the answer to that question at some point in their life)

-Why is fridge spelled with a d but refrigerator isn’t spelled with a d? (That always bothers me whenever I have to spell either of those two words)

-Why are buildings called buildings if they are already built? (One of the many confusing things about the English language)

-What does water taste like? (Seriously, what does water taste like)

And those are just a few of the things Kiffin has tweeted out. Some of the things he retweets are just as good.

I don’t think anyone would be surprised if we woke up tomorrow to hear that Kiffin had left Florida Atlantic to become the head coach of Baylor, so he doesn’t have much to lose by doing any of this.

He’s not going to win any recruiting battles against any of the big three schools in Florida, but he has the experience and name to get those second level players over the other schools. Throw in a coach who seems like he’s going to keep things interesting, and it’s almost an added bonus for a recruit.

If you think I’m ridiculous and this type of stuff doesn’t matter, let me remind you that I have dedicated an entire article, most of which is positive, to a man that I have as much respect for as I do a bundle of potpourri, solely because I enjoy his Twitter account. Maybe that says more about how I need to reassess my own life, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.

I will say this, all those tweets I mentioned above seem to be a back and forth Kiffin has with someone I assume is a young fan of his. I have no idea what the backstory is and while I would love to see a person with the right connections actually find out, if I’m being completely honest with you the outcome won’t change my opinion in the least.

No matter what Kiffin accomplishes during the remainder of his coaching career I probably will never become a fan. As long as he keeps tweeting the comedic gold that he has been though, I’ll always be intrigued with what he has to say.
