Brunswick High Pirates 2017 Preview

To say that there is a lot of excitement on Altama Avenue regarding the 2017 Brunswick High football season would be an understatement.

The anticipation is through the roof. New head coach Sean Pender has the Pirate Nation fired up and with 35 seniors retuning on a talented roster, most loyal Pirates feel like the program can bounce back from back to back dismal seasons.

Braves Future After Bartolo Colon

The Braves have designated Bartolo Colon for assignment and called up LHP Rex Brothers from Gwinnett.

The Colon experiment is finally over in Atlanta. 2-8 with an 8.14 ERA coming off being bombed by the Padres Wednesday night. The Braves front office has finally had enough. Let’s look at the Braves rotation for the balance of the season.

The eyes of the college football world were glued to their collective phone screens this past Tuesday. Multiple Facebook Live streams showed a podium centered in the cafeteria of Scotland High in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

A crowd, made up of coaches, teachers, family, and ever present media members gathered near the podium. Zamir White, the nation’s number one back was set to announce where he would be spending his college years. Dressed in a black suit, with a small red boutonniere attached to his left lapel, White waited patiently for his moment.

Dwight Howard Trade Perfect For Charlotte Hornets

Normally there are only a few times where you pay an athlete in excess of $20 million when he or she is on the downside of their prime, playing for their fourth team in five years, at a position that has almost become obsolete.

Either they are the local hero ending their career in front of the hometown fans; they are the last piece to what could become a championship team; or the player has photos of the team’s General Manager in compromising situations and is blackmailing their way into a lucrative contract.

Since none of those things seem to apply to Dwight Howard being traded to the Hornets (Rich Cho does happen to live a fairly private life though), it’s a little odd that I like this trade as much as I do.
