Gator Chomp

Florida had a fairly successful year under new head coach Jim McElwain. The Gators went 10-4 and 7-1 in the SEC. They won the Eastern division and played in the SEC Championship game.
Florida was known for explosive offense under Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer. After Will Muschamp’s first season as head coach in 2011 the offensive production came to a screeching halt. The lack of talent on offense during Muschamp’s four years will come back to haunt Florida this season.

It’s pretty difficult in sports, or really any profession for that matter, to be a dominating force for an extended period of time.
The Boston Celtics nine straight championships will never be duplicated.

After years of rumors and false starts (pun intended), Kennesaw State University finally began its long-awaited football program last year.
First year football programs tend to be a struggle, but the 2015 Owls proved to be anything but, raging forward with a ferocious offense that scored more than 50 points several times and leading the team to a record of 6-5 on the year.
Auburn 2016 Preview

The Auburn Tigers have had back to back poor seasons under head coach Gus Malzahn, and the fan base hopes that turns around in 2016, or this could be Malzahn’s last year on the plains. The bar was set high in 2013 with a NC game appearance, but just 15 wins in the last two years has Auburn folks very nervous.
Malzahn is 27-13 entering his 4th season at Auburn. 7-5 type seasons will not cut in on the plains.

A free education, notoriety on a nationwide level depending on the school you go to, and of course the mere fact that you are able to continue to play the game that you loved growing up while a majority of us are forced to watch in envy.
Making The Cut For Falcons

Once again the Falcons enter a new season looking to show the NFL (and their fans) that they are a football team worth watching.
Another season that began with promise and ended with fairly consistent and bitter disappointment has come and gone, and Atlanta has had a whole offseason to mull over 2015 and make improvements; and with August comes exhibitions games.
Meaningless as the games are to the standings, they are still the first action of the new season, and with comes all that hope and promise yet again. Continue reading
Tennessee 2016 Preview
TheSouthernSportsEdition.com news services
In 2016 Tennessee should be a major player in the SEC race. It has the experience, the talent, and maybe the coaching in place to be the best team in the SEC East, and now it must at least get to Atlanta in December, or the heat will mount on head coach Butch Jones. That means winning the division and getting to the title game for the first time since 2007.

LSU 2016 Preview

LSU experienced extreme highs and lows last season. The only program I can compare it too is Texas A&M the past two years. The Aggies started 5-0 before the wheels fell off in 2014 and 2015.
