Paul Johnson has proven his teams have trouble handling success. After an 11-3 record and Orange Bowl victory in 2014 the bottom fell out in 2015. They finished 3-9 and won just one conference game.
The defense has always struggled in the CPJ era and last season was no exception. They finished 43rd in total defense giving up 368 yards per game. The unit also finished 121st in sacks with just 14.
Mediocre Muschamp

Some things are just meant to go together. Peanut butter and jelly. Leslie Nielsen and any movie where the main character has his microphone turned on while going to the bathroom. And whomever was genius enough to combine vanilla ice cream and root beer should’ve been awarded some sort of Nobel Prize.
Braves Win In Kemp Trade?

So I’m just having a normal Saturday, taking advantage of the weekend and running errands.
Now I’m doing my best to keep up with MLB’s trade rumors since I have a side gig as a sports columnist, and I’m keeping my ear to ground because I know that my local team. The Atlanta Braves, could be moving a lot of players in the next few days.
Nick Markakis maybe, probably Jeff Francoeur; there are some relievers and infielders that could be ripe for moving too.

Every once in a while athletes come along and you get the opportunity to watch them up close and personal and you catch yourself saying WOW a lot when you watch these athletes do things that you only wish you could do.

For the first time in 15 seasons, the Georgia Bulldogs will have a new leader on the sidelines.
Kirby Smart has taken over for Mark Richt as the face of the program. Smart is coming home to his alma mater after a long tenure as the Alabama Crimson Tide defensive coordinator.
ACC Coastal Preview

The ACC Coastal division is unpredictable. They don’t have elite teams so it’s much more competitive than the Atlantic. I’ll try to project where the teams will finish.
Boring Sports Summer

Welcome to what is becoming an annual “It’s been a long sports summer, the Braves are still in last place, and I can’t possibly write another preseason article on SEC Football” story from yours truly.
For someone who writes stories on southern sports I like to refer to these days as the ‘Bob Ross’ days. You know, as in I’d rather watch that man with the glorious fro paint pictures of mountain ranges than subject myself to following whether or not the Hawks are going to give some guy I’ve never heard $5 million dollars a year to sit the bench.
Should Fred McGriff Be In Hall Of Fame?
TheSouthernSportsEdition.com news services
Another year, another Hall of Fame vote, and this weekend, another induction ceremony that will not feature Fred McGriff.
The slugger has been on the MLB Hall of Fame ballot for seven years now, and has garnered enough support to remain on the ballot for each following year, but has never come close to sniffing the 75% required to gain entrance into Cooperstown, by far baseball’s greatest and most rare honor.

Brunswick High senior wide receiver Shawn Smith is about to embark on his final season in the Blue and Gold. The 5’11 170 pound Smith is committed to play football in 2017 for Coach Will Muschamp and the South Carolina Gamecocks. South Carolina will be getting a deep threat and great athlete in Smith once his Pirate playing days are over.
Peach State Recruiting Wars

In college football, recruiting is the lifeblood of every program since schools must replace their entire roster no more than every five years.
Fortunately, football programs located within the state of Georgia typically do not need to travel too far in order to find players.
